John Dunn began as a plumbing apprentice in 1956 with a local Mordialloc firm – E Groves & Son – for a period of five years. Upon completion he joined his family horse racing transportation business – CO Dunn Transportation. He continued in this industry until the business was sold and decided it was time to re-establish his plumbing career.
In 1978, he obtained his plumbing license and started his local plumbing business known as Longbeach Plumbing. The business specialized in domestic roofing, plumbing maintenance and new construction projects. In 1985 his son, Stewart Dunn, joined the family business to leverage his skills and better his experience in domestic plumbing. The business grew over time and had an increasing clientele of local builders and returning domestic clients.
In 2002, John stepped down as Director and entered into his retirement years. With the connections John built over the years and his broad knowledge and awareness of the building industry, he went on to develop several home units. Proudly, the business is successfully family operated to this day.
Stewart Dunn, our Managing Director has been operating Longbeach Plumbing for over 18 years. Stewart began his career at Moorabbin hospital as a plumbing apprentice in 1981. On completion of his apprenticeship, Stewart moved on to become a registered plumber, where he worked with his father, John Dunn.
In 1990, Stewart entered into a partnership with John and commenced his studies in plumbing services, design and management. In 2002 Stewart acquired Longbeach Plumbing and has continued to drive the business’ success. Longbeach Plumbing has since evolved from construction and has now transitioned into the maintenance and servicing of both commercial and domestic markets.
Jack Dunn, the third generation of the Dunn family, completed his VCE studies in 2017, where he then began working for Longbeach Plumbing as a trade assistant. Upon Jack’s return home, he commenced his apprenticeship in early April of 2020 and is currently completing his trade school studies at Holmesglen Chadstone TAFE.
